Petersham is located in Sydney’s inner west, 7 kilometres south-west of the CBD. It is situated in the local government area of Marrickville Council.
Getting there and getting around
Petersham Station is on the Airport, Inner West & South Line of the Sydney Trains Network. The railway station itself was built in 1886 and is listed on the Register of the National Estate. The suburb is also serviced by a number of Sydney Buses routes including the 412, 428, 444 and 445.
Lifestyle and population
Petersham is known particularly for its vibrant Portugese community and is sometimes even referred to as ‘Little Portugal’. There are many Portugese restaurants, cafes and delicatessens in the suburb as well as an annual food and wine festival called the Bairro Português Food & Wine Fair.
